ready for this? [Jul. 2nd, 2008|06:32 pm]

Interesting fact I haven't really shared:

As of today, I have not consumed a drop of alcohol in TWO MONTHS.

My brain is shutting down. It just overloaded and, I swear, is shutting down. How am I supposed to cram two more chapters of tax in the next two hours with no brain?

Real entry in the near future, I promise. And mail for those to whom I seriously owe mail.

etsy shop [Jun. 15th, 2008|11:46 pm]
My apologies to everyone who I keep telling "I'm opening my Etsy shop this weekend" (tonight, today, etc.). I really do have good intentions, but it's a lot of frigging work, and I just keep getting over-optimistic. I went a bit overboard stocking up before actually listing the items, which means tons of photographing and editing and writing, plus decisions about pricing and shipping and so forth.

I do want to get some stuff up as soon as I can, because I have zero money and any chance of selling something is worth it. I have 27 sets of one of a kind buttons, somewhere around 18 pairs of earrings, and five sets of crochet stitch markers, all on their own matching, handmade cards with my shop name on them. I also have a few zines to list.

I have everything photographed.

Basically, I just need a week off and a bunch of energy and no homework. And that's not happening.

In other news, Jack and I are getting along pretty well, and I got a 79 on a test I thought I'd bombed (still bad, but it's Tax, and I thought I did a lot worse), which is cool.

And I'm sleepy.

oops. [Jun. 12th, 2008|02:05 pm]
I don't know how I did it, but somehow I cracked the front of my phone from top to bottom. My nice, shiny, mirror-finish Krazr. This is what happens when I own nice things. The universe goes, "NUH-UH!"

I'm so glad this week is almost over. THE END IS IN SIGHT! One of my classes is actually half over. (Of course it's my favorite class.)

blogging photos > not blogging at all. maybe?

i'm only in school four days/week right now but those four days feel like about three weeks. the topics we're covering in advanced accounting are so obscure it's ridiculous. multiple chapters on foreign currency transaction hedging and translation.

it almost makes me appreciate tax.

pls send funniez

[Jun. 9th, 2008|01:16 pm]
Oh hai guyz. First a little journaling before I get to the bitching.
My grandparents have been out of town so I've been hanging out at their house. I finally got to watch a couple of Tivo'd Death Note eps. I have been doing crafty things between my craploads of homework. I took a test this morning in Business Finance. It was easy. Darien and I went swimming and ate Chinese food (not simultaneously) on Saturday. I have a lot of swaps and photos and stuff to get caught up on here at home. Jack's out of town four days a week right now.

Anyway,
my student loan check still hadn't arrived this weekend (a week after school started) so I called this morning and they never received my fax (third time they had me send different paperwork) from May 27th. Even if they receive it today, the bill I sent to verify my address probably won't work because I don't actually live at my "permanent address" (my grandparents' house) so I don't receive any important mail there. This means I'll have to change my banking address or driver's license address. By the time I get this goddamn check I'll have my Federal aid for fall, ARGH.

Meanwhile, my tuition is late and it took all the cash I had to pay rent (which is now month to month and $130/mo. more expensive), and I have an electric bill due in three days and several personal bills due in the following couple of days. I have no money. These are bills I can't put on my credit card. Lame. Lame and stressful and lame.

I've lost weight. I have more homework to get done before class tonight. If someone could please mail me a new boyfriend and a sack full of unmarked $20 bills, that'd be great.

Photos tonight, hopefully. Eddie, I got your CD! Jack walks by and sees the track listing and goes, "Man, there are a lot of great songs on here!" :D I'll be mailing yours soon.

I just found this pretty mean letter I wrote to an ex-boyfriend three years ago. (Yahoo changed its mail service a little and "drafts" popped up below Inbox, and it was in there.)

It actually contains some pretty good advice for me )

On a less bizarre note, thank you guys so much for your birthday wishes yesterday. They seriously made the difference on what would otherwise have been a pretty crappy birthday. I really appreciate the love and thoughtfulness so much. <3

[May. 22nd, 2008|02:58 pm]
Just realized that, as usual, I hadn't written or (yes, I'm awful) checked my friends page in a while. I went straight down to Frisco, TX (sort of suburb of Dallas -- basically an enormous wasteland of tract housing and strip malls) after finals, stayed a couple of days, then left for California. My brother graduated from CSUCI last weekend and I'm here for a couple more days.

Last night my sister ([info]spazyspag)and I went to see Death Note (the first live-action flick) in the theater. That was kind of awesome, but also incredibly annoying as the theater was full of fankids who would NOT SHUT UP. The chick behind me had a running commentary going, I swear. It was, however, awesome when the whole audience cheered at L's reveal, then every time L did something like touch sugar cubes or hold items with his fingertips. I held my finger up whenever Yagami was on the screen so I could make it look like he had his killer stache. Wish you could have been there, [info]suburbangoth. We would either have been louder than the other dorks, or kicked their asses. ;)

On a side note, today's my uncle's 40th birthday. (This is my uncle whose name happens to be Craig Ferguson.) He's in Paris, and ate last night's dinner at the top of the Eiffel Tower, where I've heard he was going to be able to stay til midnight so he'd be there on his bday. Cheesy but neat.

In one week, I turn 27.

That's about all the news that's fit to print. I'm trying to chill out as much as possible because beginning on June 2, I'm taking an absolutely insane summer school class load. Whatevs, only two terms to go.

And tonight is... the So You Think You Can Dance premiere!!

Oh my gosh, is it possible?

Is this semester... actually over?

[May. 8th, 2008|11:34 pm]
Check it out, my school is advocating the use of caffeine supplements:

or maybe Tylenol, I can't tell. That's from the library website.

So finals week has been a total blast (guffaw), and even though my three in-class finals are over at this point, I feel no reduction in stress, because I have like twenty pages of writing to do before 4:50pm tomorrow. Yuck. I am so ready for this semester to be officially over.

On the plus side, I did already get an A in one of my classes (Government & Not-for-Profit Accounting).

And here's the big exciting tornado story:

As a couple of classmates and I walked into our Auditing class on Wednesday evening (we'd been upstairs studying for hours), some other students came in from the parking lot and announced that the tornado sirens were going off. We'd seen crazy rain and hail out the business building windows but hadn't heard any sirens. Our teacher blew it off (which is what I tend to do with tornado sirens, although the ones here in Edmond don't actually go off unless there IS a tornado on the ground). He made fun of a girl who was scared for a while, and looked up the weather reports on a couple of local websites. We got ready to take the test, then the sirens went off AGAIN and a student came in and told us that the dean had said to leave the building and head for a shelter.

So, we got marched over to another building -- through the pouring rain -- and into the basement, where we crowded together, all steamy, and countless people had the radio tuned in through their phones. Eventually they let us back into the hallways upstairs because we were so cramped, and after half an hour or so, we went back to the business building (getting soaked again). And? THEY MADE US TAKE THE FINAL.

A lot of people were wicked pissed. Some students had actually left campus (drive around in the storm, that's smart) and had to come back. Several folks had to take the test totally soaked, the tornado-phobes were all stressed out, and people were being loud and anxious in the hallway. Not ideal test-taking conditions.

I did fine, though. ;D
Okay, another fifteen minutes not spent writing (anything required).

not doing homework, like she should be....

this is an example of one of those times when you spend fifteen minutes making neat flickr notes and no one but you will ever check them out.

i'm used to it. it's still worth it for my own enjoyment. :D
